Millsaps College, a nationally recognized, selective four-year liberal arts college in Jackson, Mississippi, announces a full-time, tenure track position in Theatre, available Fall 2014.
The position includes a 2/2 teaching load and producing/directing one theatre production each semester. Selection of courses and productions will be based on the applicant’s strengths and interests and on departmental need. Millsaps faculty members are teacher-scholars; support for research/creative development and travel is available.
A terminal degree in theatre, preferably an MFA, is required. The area of specialization is open, with preference given to a focus in directing or acting. The college is committed to expanding the theatre program, including developing a new dedicated performance space, so we are seeking candidates with the vision to lead this process. At present, we are producing shows in found/alternative spaces, so candidates with experience or interest in working in such spaces will be especially competitive. This position will be the only full-time theatre instructor at Millsaps for the near future; the college will support hiring any short-term specialists needed for productions.
