Overview

The position provides key athletic training and support for scholar-athletes in the 18 varsity sports at Millsaps College.  It is a paid internship provided by the Department of Athletics.

Description:

This is a 10 month position (August - May) at Millsaps College, a NCAA Division III, private, four year, residential, liberal arts college in Jackson, Mississippi. The position may be renewed for an additional year(s). The intern will assist the staff athletic trainers in the coverage of the 18 varsity sports offered at Millsaps College.

Responsibilities:

  • assisting with the day to day operations in the athletic training room
  • preventing, assessing and rehabilitating injuries and developing administrative skills
  • traveling with assigned sports as well as providing home practice and competition coverage

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training or related field, NATABOC certification by August 1, 2013
  • current first aid/CPR/AED certification
  • Have or be eligible for the Mississippi State Athletic Trainer License
  • Candidate must possess good communication skills
