CARES Inc. is associated with Mississippi Children's Home Services, and provides educational and therapeutic services for children, ages 6-18, who have serious emotional and behavioral problems and/or substance abuse. Individual educational services are provided by licensed professionals. The CARES School is located at 402 Wesley Avenue at the corner of West Street just behind Millsaps, so transportation is not required. Students who plan to walk to this site must attend a brief safety orientation. These jobs require a background check.

Job Description:
The office assistant will provide assistance to the Principal and Student Support Facilitator in the school office and library. Duties include but are not limited to:
Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. (Hours are flexible within this range).

Mississippi Children's Home CARES School Tutor
Job Description:
Tutors will work under the supervision of unit staff, and will be responsible for helping plan and/or implement activities for designated students in grades 1 - 12. They will be expected to observe and participate in therapeutic practices and interventions which have proven to be effective when working with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges. The goal of this program is to help CARES students remediate skill deficits in academic areas identified by school staff members. These activities will help students develop basic skills and complete assignments and projects assigned by the teachers. Materials will be provided. Duties include:
Monday - Friday, 3:30 - 5 p.m. (Hours are flexible within this range).

Mississippi Children's Home CARES Therapeutic Recreation Assistant
Job Description:
Therapeutic Recreation Assistants will work under the guidance of licensed professionals to plan and implement activities for students in grades 1 - 12 including: art, crafts, cooking, music, sports, dance, aerobics, and other recreation activities. They will be expected to observe and participate in therapeutic practices and interventions which have proven to be effective when working with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges. The goal of this program is to help CARES students identify and develop their personal strengths. These activities will help build students' self esteem and confidence and help them choose career paths based on their individual strengths and preferences.
Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. or 6 - 8 p.m. (Hours are flexible within these ranges).
Salary $10 per hour
