What is ICAP?
The International Cultural Awareness Program (ICAP) is a ten-day summer program designed to cultivate cultural awareness and an understanding of life in a developing country. You'll spend four nights at the Millsaps College campus in Jackson, Mississippi, and then five nights at Millsaps College Yucatan facilities in Merida, Mexico, and one night at Millsaps College's 4,000-acre bio-cultural reserve in Kaxil Kiuic. Students will earn two college credits in Latin American Studies from Millsaps College at the completion of the program.
Who can go?
This program is tailor-made for adventurous, high achieving rising high school seniors with a competitive GPA and a letter of recommendation from their guidance counselor.
When is the program?
This year's program will take place from June 18-28, 2012.
Application Process
Interested students should complete the application form and return it to the Millsaps College Office of Admissions. In support of the application, students are asked to submit official high school transcripts and a letter of recommendation from the student's guidance counselor. The application deadline is April 15, 2012. Students who complete their application before the April 15 deadline will receive a $100 credit towards the program cost.
How much does it cost?
The total cost of the program is $3995, which includes travel expenses (except travel to and from Jackson, MS, at the start and end of the program), food and hospitality. There is a reservation fee of $250 that will be incorporated into the cost of the program. Also, students who complete their application before the April 15 deadline will receive a $100 credit towards the program cost.
