MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Millsaps men’s and women’s cross country teams competed last weekend in the Twilight Classic presented by Fleet Feet Sports, facing tough competition such as South Alabama, Harding University, Missouri State, Western Kentucky, Arkansas-Little Rock and Alabama-Huntsville.
The Majors as well as several other Mississippi schools like Mississippi College, Mississippi Valley State, Alcorn State, Jackson State and Belhaven all traveled to the event.
In the men’s 8K run, junior Sam Gay crossed the tape at the 26:38.56 mark, which was good enough for a 61st place finish out of 200 runners. He was the fourth Mississippi runner to cross the line, finishing behind three Jackson State University Tigers.
Freshman Lloyd Gray finished next for the Majors with a time of 28:58.53, while Taylor Weglicki, Will Benton and Travis Tutor all finished within the next 35 runners.
The Majors will stay in Mississippi for their next competition, traveling to Clinton Saturday, Oct. 14, to compete in the Mississippi College Invitational at 9:30 a.m.
