Robichaux, Sooby Lead Millsaps to 1-0 Season-Opening Win
Majors open 4-game homestand at Harper Davis Field on Friday, Sept. 5

August 29, 2008

MARSHALL, Texas – Senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Sooby posted her 10th career shutout with four saves and junior Leslie Robichaux netted the lone goal of the game in the 62nd minute as Millsaps edged host ETBU Friday night 1-0 in a pair of season-openers.

In an evenly matched game in the final box score, the host Tigers outshot Millsaps 19-12 on the night, including 12-5 in the second half, but it was the Majors who found the back of the net when it counted early in the second.

The two teams combined for just seven shots-on-goal, as Millsaps' Robichaux picked up her first points of the season when she fired the eventual game-winner past Erin Mason. The Majors had a great scoring opportunity just minutes earlier when senior Kristen Massey hit the top of the crossbar after a Bobbi Jones corner.

Sooby picked up a pair of saves in each period, including a crucial save in the final minute on Alyssa Balderas, to pick up her first win of the season between the posts.

Millsaps will open a 4-game homestand next Friday with Louisiana College at 7 p.m., followed by games with Agnes Scott, Alcorn State and Piedmont College.

Game Notes:
Millsaps' Sooby is 4-1-1 in her last six starts in net
Millsaps won its second-straight season-opener
