JACKSON – Senior
Bobbi Jones picked up her first goal of the season to go along
with a pair of assists as Millsaps College blasted
visiting Louisiana College 5-1 on Friday night in its home
opener at Harper Davis Field.
Elizabeth Sooby, Sarah Nelin and Molly
Beth Jourdan each split time between the posts in a lopsidded
affair on the scoresheet, with the trio facing just two shots
all night
compared to 20 on the other side of the field.
Millsaps (2-0) controlled the tempo
from the opening minutes, scoring at the 6:11 mark when freshman
Jessica Harris fired a shot past Lady 'Cats keeper Carla Lambert.
Megan Sullivan and Jones would each add goals for the Majors
to increase the lead to 3-0 before Ashley Woodall fired an unassisted
goal over the head of Nelin just minutes before half.
Early goals from Kristen Massey (1)
and Leslie Robichaux (2) in the opening 15 minutes of the second
half put the game out of reach for Millsaps as they cruised to
the 5-1 win.
Millsaps will look to extend its winning
streak on Sunday as they host Agnes Scott at 1 p.m. in the first
of two games at Harper Davis Field (men play at 4 p.m.) Catch
