Paul Van Hooydonk will begin
his sixth season at the helm of the Millsaps
women's soccer program
after guiding the Majors to a 6-9-2
mark in 2007 and a 19-61-5 overall record the previous five seasons.
A year ago, Van Hooydonk guided the team to its most wins since 1995,
including the Majors' first league road win since 1996, and watched
junior goalkeeper Elizabeth Sooby set a single-season school record
with seven shutouts.
Van Hooydonks coaching experience stretches over 18 years as he
has helped the Majors' program receive
four consecutive NSCAA Team Ethics Awards and two consecutive Academic
Achievement
Awards.
Prior to his two year stint as the Millsaps men's coach, Van Hooydonk
headed
the womens soccer program for six seasons at College Misericordia
where
his team compiled an overall winning record of 61-36-9.
The program earned
two Pennsylvania Athletic Conference
Championships as well as appearing in three conference championship
games, four conference playoffs and one Eastern
Collegiate
Athletic
Conference
Tournament
invitation. In 1996, Van Hooydonk was named the Pennsylvania Athletic
Conference Coach of the Year.
Prior to his time at College Misericordia, Van Hooydonk spent a year
as the head coach of the womens soccer team at Alfred State College
in New York, leading the team to a postseason appearance.
Van Hooydonk joined the Millsaps staff after serving at Emory University
in Atlanta, Ga., as the manager of the athletic facilities that supported
16 varsity sports. He also has management experience at College Misericordia
as the Intramural Director and Evening/Weekend Athletic Facilities Supervisor.
Van Hooydonk is a member of the Mississippi ODP State Coaching staff
and serves on the NCAA Southern Region committee. He holds both a NCSAA
Advanced National Diploma and a National Youth Diploma.
He received a
Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Baldwin-Wallace College
in Ohio and a Master of Science in Education from Alfred University in
New York.
