SUWANEE,
Ga. – After
going a perfect 7-0 in the Millsaps Softball Classic at Freedom Ridge
Park last weekend to help the Majors improve to 10-7 overall, sophomores
Kasey Thibodeaux and Sam
Hill have been tabbed the SCAC Co-Pitcher
and
Player of the
Week.
Thibodeaux
continued her dominance in the circle for the Majors in Ridgeland,
posting a 3-0 record with two complete game shutouts and a 1.22 ERA.
The sophomore from
Youngsville, La., tossed a combined 23.0 innings, scattering 12 strikeouts
against four walks
while surrendering just six runs (four earned). Thibodeaux
held opponents to a .188 batting average in 85 plate appearances and
allowed only 16 hits to improve to 5-2 on the year with a 1.35 ERA.
Hill put in perhaps
her best weekend in a Millsaps uniform this past weekend, hitting .577
from the plate (15-for-26) with 19 total bases,
12 runs scored, seven RBIs and four doubles to push her team-best average
out to .473 through 17 games.
The sophomore from
Birmingham, Ala., also carried a .731 slugging percentage and .621
on-base percentage. Hill
currently leads the team in total bases (35), hits (26), runs (18),
RBIs (14) and doubles (nine).
Millsaps
is over the .500 mark for the first time since 2005 and is riding
a 7-game
winning streak – the longest since
2003. They will host SCAC East foe Centre College today and tomorrow
in a 4-game series, the first games at home all season. |
