JACKSON – Led
by freshman Maggie Tumminello and sophomore Kate Hall, Millsaps
dropped the opening two matches
in the Millsaps Invitational this afternoon in the home
opener of the season.
After picking
up their first set win to Reinhardt, 25-23, the Majors lost all
momentum and lost the next three sets 23-25, 19-25
and 17-25. Hall notched 13 kills and four aces to lead the Majors
in the first set. Senior Sarah Exley had six kills to go along
with 11 digs, while also having a solid night was sophomore setter
Hailey Miranda who had 27 assists and 11 digs.
In the nightcap
against East Texas Baptist, the team fought valiantly but could
not overcome the Tigers, dropping three sets by scores of 25-22,
25-22 and 25-23. Millsaps was led by Tumminello who had 13
kills and seven
digs in addition to sophomore Mallory Clark who picked up 12 digs.
Millsaps (3-3)
hopes to get back to its winning ways tomorrow as they wrap up
the Invitational
with games against Spring Hill College
and Belhaven. The Majors' first match is slated
for Noon, followed by a 2 p.m. matchup to close out the weekend.
