JACKSON – Led by freshman Maggie Tumminello and sophomore Kate Hall, Millsaps dropped the opening two matches in the Millsaps Invitational this afternoon in the home opener of the season.

After picking up their first set win to Reinhardt, 25-23, the Majors lost all momentum and lost the next three sets 23-25, 19-25 and 17-25. Hall notched 13 kills and four aces to lead the Majors in the first set. Senior Sarah Exley had six kills to go along with 11 digs, while also having a solid night was sophomore setter Hailey Miranda who had 27 assists and 11 digs.

In the nightcap against East Texas Baptist, the team fought valiantly but could not overcome the Tigers, dropping three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-22 and 25-23. Millsaps was led by Tumminello who had 13 kills and seven digs in addition to sophomore Mallory Clark who picked up 12 digs.

Millsaps (3-3) hopes to get back to its winning ways tomorrow as they wrap up the Invitational with games against Spring Hill College and Belhaven. The Majors' first match is slated for Noon, followed by a 2 p.m. matchup to close out the weekend.
