CLINTON
- The
Majors played a tough battle against Mississippi College last night,
unfortunately their determination and fortitude led to a victory
in game one, before falling in the subsequent three games 22-30,
27-30 and 24-30.
The first game was distinguished by the high spirits on part of the players that
served aggressively allowing them to dominate the game, with a score of 30-23.
Throughout the second and third games, Millsaps occasionally had the upper hand
as they would be leading by two or three points, before falling flat to the Choctaws.
Kim Fox skillfully led her team with the most kills with 12, while Toni Manley
closely followed with seven.
On the defensive side, Dixie Krauss effectively led her team with 16 defensive
digs, while Colleen Kelly followed with 11.
The Majors are scheduled to play Trinity University and Southwestern University
in a match on Friday, Oct. 20. This should be a significant challenge for the
Majors because both teams are ranked among the Top 10 in the nation.
Millsaps welcomes the challenge, as it will allow them to gain the necessary
experience that is crucial for any young team. One thing is certain however,
the Majors have a tremendous support system from the student body and it has
been evident in the home matches this season.
The Majors will be on the road the remaining 10 games of the season, heading
to
Conway,
Ark., to compete in the SCAC Western Divisional Tournament this upcoming weekend.
