Courses of Study
Millsaps offers a bachelors degree
in computer science in two concentrations: computer science and
com puter information systems.
This section lists the degree requirement for each concentration.
While both concentrations share the same core of computer science
courses, they allow students to pursue different career paths.
The requirements listed are only the minimum required to attain
a degree, leaving students with enough freedom to take a number
of advanced courses on an elective basis.
The Millsaps
college catalog lists general academic information with complete degree
requirements, as well as a full list of departmental courses.
Further information on requirements for the senior year and the
honors program can be found in the web page on Research.
A C grade or better is required in all computer science courses.

This concentration prepares students
to pursue a career in the software industry or to attend graduate
school.
Computer Science Concentration
It is also ideal for students who
are interested in more technically-oriented jobs in the general
field of information technology.

Computer Information Systems Concentration
This concentration is tailored to prepare
students for a wide range of careers in the general field of information
technology.
The skills developed in this course
of study will be useful in any corporate environment where there
is a need for computer networks, databases and in formation systems
in general.
Furthermore, students may use several courses from the Else School
of Management to fulfill requirements toward this concentration.
This will give them the basic skills needed to eventually pursue
managerial/administrative positions in information technology.
