Sanderson Hall

Built in 1986, Sanderson
Hall is named in memory of Joe Frank Sanderson's wife, Ann. Currently,
Sanderson houses members of Wellspring, a freshmen service learning community,
on the north wing and upperclass
men and
women on the
south
wing. Sanderson comprises more than 20,000 square feet of living space.
Sanderson Hall is located on the north side of campus in the
immediate vicinity
of the science building Olin Hall, Cambell College Center, which houses
the cafeteria and campus coffee shop, and the Physical Activities Center,
where the gym is located. Surrounded by flowering dogwood trees and lush
azaleas, nandina, and hydrangeas, the building also has convenient parking
in a lot directly adjacent to the residence hall. Sanderson is shaded by
mature trees and features a bike rack for cycling enthusiasts. A large study
room contains comfy couches, chairs, and wall to wall windows. The well-equipped
central laundry facility offers soda, juice, and snack machines.
The north wing is four stories, including a basement. Each
hall is suite-style with two rooms (four students) sharing a bathroom. The
south wing is two stories and each room is similar to those in the north
halls, but with an added living room area. The beige-colored rooms have
a large lighted closet and other basic furniture: a desk, chair, dresser,
and bed for each occupant. The large rooms make it easy to move in and rearrange
furniture, and all rooms have internet hook ups and telephone lines with
voicemail connections, caller identification, and call waiting.
