The Cain Archives is the repository for historical records of the Mississippi Conference, United Methodist Church, and its antecedent groups. The conference was established in 1813 as the Mississippi Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, following Tobias Gibson's appointment from South Carolina to the Natchez Territory in 1799.

The annual meeting of the SEJ Historical Society will take place July 9-11, 2013 at Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center. Centered around the theme "Where Lives are Transformed," sessions will include tour opportunities, a pictorial presentation on the history of Lake Junaluska Assembly as well as dramatic and musical presentations, all related to Lake Junaluska's celebration of 100 years in ministry and mission.
