Ryan Pemberton is the new director of annual giving at Millsaps College.
The Annual Fund is a pool of gifts that provides support for campus priorities, including but not limited to faculty and staff support, campus beautification, and financial aid for students.
“My goal is to develop meaningful relationships with as many alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends as possible and to encourage support for the Annual Fund,” Pemberton said. “Those gifts are critical in helping to ensure that faculty and staff have the resources they need to build the best possible learning environment for our students.”
Pemberton moved to Jackson from Nashville, Tenn., where he served as development director at the Neighborhoods Resource Center. He previously served as an intelligence analyst with the FBI in Washington D.C. Pemberton also served as both assistant director and director of annual giving at Hampden-Sydney College.
Pemberton received his B.A. in political science from Hampden-Sydney College and his M.P.A. from Cornell University. He also received his Ed.D. from The George Washington University, where his dissertation focused on the presidential transition process at small, private, selective colleges and universities.
“It is obvious to me in a very short period of time that Millsaps matters,” said Pemberton. “This institution matters because of the way Millsaps graduates will go on to serve others throughout their lives. I am thrilled to support that important mission.”
Ryan and his wife Helen, along with their very energetic puppy, Clark, live in Jackson.
