1. Learn more. In particular, pay special attention to the following:
Dr. Bill Storey discusses how to choose Core classes.
Make certain your MajorAccess and Millsaps Email accounts are ready for use. Both will be utilized in the Registration process.
2. Choose an Advising/Registration time period. We have established several Advising/Registration time periods, many of which correspond to activities on campus. If you are participating in any of these activities, you'll likely want to choose that time period. Of course, you may choose any of the time periods, whether you are participating in these activities or not. Please keep in mind that the earlier you register, the wider the range of available course options. You may also choose whether you want to do advising on campus or over the phone. (Overnight accommodations are only available for Challenge participants staying the week.) After consulting with your advisor, you will register online.
1. June 13-14 (Challenge #1)
2. June 20-21 (Challenge #2)
3. July 11-12
4. July 18-19 (Challenge #3)
5. August 1-2
6. August 19 (Freshmen Orientation)
3. Choose your preferred Advising/Registration periods. Go to www.millsaps.edu/new_students/signup.php to indicate your preferred periods. Because the number of students who can be advised during each of the time periods is limited, we'll ask you to specify your top 3 choices of advising/registration periods, to indicate whether you prefer to do on-campus or over-the-phone advising, and to let us know whether you are participating in the activity associated with your advising period. We will make every effort to assign you to one of your top three choices. The Director of Academic Advising (Dr. Don Schwartz) will send email to your Millsaps Email account with the advising period you have been assigned, along with the name and contact information of your Summer advisor.
4. Email your advisor. Using your Millsaps Email, contact your assigned faculty advisor. You and your advisor will correspond to discuss advising and to make an appointment to talk on the phone or to meet in person. It is very important that you be available at the agreed-upon appointment time. If you miss your appointment time, your registration appointment will be cancelled. (You will still be able to register during Orientation on August 19.) Make sure you have reviewed the information in Step 1 (above) before your appointment with your advisor!
5. Set up Registration. Login to MajorAccess, hit the "Current Students" tab and follow the link to "E-Registration Documentation." Read over each of the documents carefully to familiarize yourself with the registration process.
