Possessing an encyclopedic chamber music and vocal repertoire, he has regularly collaborated with many of the world’s foremost string quartets, instrumental soloists and singers. In a three-year period he was a prizewinner at the Leeds International Piano Competition, the Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition and the Naumburg International Piano Competition.
Millsaps professor Dr. Lynn Raley will give a pre-concert talk at 6:45 p.m. in room 215 of the Ford Academic Complex. In addition, Nel will give a master class workshop at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, in the Ford Academic Complex Recital Hall. This workshop is free and open to the public.
The Bell Piano Series is named for Estelle Bell—grandmother of former Millsaps Trustee John Palmer—for fostering an early love of music in young children. During his tenure on the College Board of Trustees, Palmer established the Jonathan M. Sweat Music Endowment, which helped launch the first two seasons of the Bell Piano Series. The legacy continues with another impressive season of piano performances.
