Millsaps will hold a service for Professor Howard Bavender at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, in the Christian Center Chapel. Primarily a time for alumni to share memories of Dr. Bavender, former Millsaps professor John Quincy Adams (who hired Professor Bavender in 1966) has organized the memorial event. The Reverend Dr. Don Fortenberry, alumnus (1962) and long-time former chaplain of Millsaps College, will lead the prayer ceremony, with the Benediction to be delivered by Reverend Dr. T.W. Lewis, Millsaps alumnus (1953) and former professor or religious studies. Visitors are encouraged to bring memorabilia and memories of Professor Bavender to share.
