Stanislav Khristenko, who won the top prize in the 2008 Wideman Piano Competition, is scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6 in the Ford Academic Complex Recital Hall at Millsaps College.
Khristenko was born in Kharkov, Ukraine and studied at the Children Musical School N13 in Kharkov, Ukraine, from 1992 until 1998. He graduated from Moscow Chopin College in 2003 and from Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in 2008. He is now studying at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
He is the winner of international competitions in Italy, Slovakia, Greece Japan and the United States. He has received scholarships from the Spivakov International Charity Foundation, the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation and the Russian Performance Art Foundation.
Khristenko has performed in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Japan, China, Russia and the Ukraine. He has recorded CDs that have been issued in Norway, Germany and Russia.
Lynn Raley, associate professor of performing arts at Millsaps College, will give a pre-concert lecture at 6:45 p.m. room 215 of the Ford Academic Complex.
Tickets to the performance are $15 each for general admission and $5 for students with a valid ID. Tickets are available at the door or in advance by calling 601-974-1422.
