Former Millsaps College quarterback Juan Joseph has been traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Roughriders announced May 15. The trade was part of a deal where the Roughriders traded defensive end Kitwana Jones to the Edmonton Eskimos and acquired Joseph in the transaction.
Joseph, who graduated in May with a bachelor’s in business administration, signed with the Eskimos in March. Joseph becomes the fourth quarterback on Saskatchewan's roster.
Joseph threw 32 touchdown passes in his last season as quarterback at Millsaps. He was named recipient of the 2008 Cellular South Conerly Trophy, which is awarded to the best college football player in the state. He was the first player from a Division III level to win in the trophy’s 13-year history.
Millsaps finished the 2008 season with its best record in school history at 11-1 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs.
Joseph is originally from Edgard, La., and stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 188 lbs.
