The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Central Mississippi from 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 24 until 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 24. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to Flash Flooding. Flash Flooding is a very dangerous situation. The National Weather Service predicts locally heavy rainfall for this afternoon as very high moisture continues to fuel efficient rain producing storms. Storms this afternoon are expected to move slower than during previous days. The result of this could be localized areas seeing 2 to 4 inches from the heaviest activity. Due to the very saturated state of the soil from recent heavy rainfall, any rainfall between 1 or 2 inches may produce flash flooding. The primary time for this activity will be between 3 and 8 p.m.
Please continue to monitor the forecast as travel to Millsaps College athletic events over the weekend may be affected.
