Fender Named Else Business Chair
Dr.
Blakely Fox Fender, PhD, has been named the J. Armistad Brown Chair
of Business in the Else School of Management at Millsaps College.
Fender is an Associate Professor of Economics at Millsaps College
where she teaches microeconomics, econometrics, and labor economics.
Dr. Fender also currently serves as the MBA Program Director and
is a 1992 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Millsaps College, where she
received a B.A. in economics. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in
economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Fender has published articles in academic journals such as The Journal of Economics, Southern Economic Journal, Journal of Forensic Economics, and the Justice System Journal. She is a member of the American Economic Association and the Southern Economic Association. Ken Harmon, Dean of the Else School of Management at Millsaps College says of Fender, "This appointment reflects Dr. Fender's outstanding reputation as a scholar, teacher, mentor, and leader in the Else School and in the College."
Prior to joining the faculty at Millsaps, Dr. Fender worked as a Senior Managing Consultant for Peterson Consulting. With Peterson, she prepared and evaluated statistical models for damage analyses in complex litigation, including antitrust, health care, corporate, and bankruptcy disputes. Dr. Fender also managed and implemented outcomes studies for pharmaceutical companies and managed care organizations.
