Millsaps Masala and the Political Science Club will gather on Tuesday, October 2, to commemorate Gandhi's birthday for the second year in a row. Everyone is welcome to gather at the statue of Gandhi on the Millsaps campus, in front of the Ford Academic Complex, at 5:30 p.m. For more information, contact Devparna Roy at 601-974-1386.
Dr. Catherine Freis, professor of classics, will garland the statue of Gandhi, following a time-honored tradition of garlanding political leaders on their birthdays. She will also speak about Gandhi's thought and work. Speeches will also be given by members of Jackson's Indian community and Millsaps students. Samosas and mango lassi will be served after the event.
