| Jon
Wenberg has been a resident of Mississippi since 1993. He serves as Principal
Bassoonist for both the Mississippi Symphony and the Meridian Symphony. He also
performs frequently with the Mississippi Symphony Woodwind Quintet, and in many
other ensembles around the state.
Originally
from Wisconsin, Jon studied at Northwestern University, where he earned both the
bachelor's and master's degree in bassoon performance. He then spent one year
in the Artist Diploma program at the College-Conservatory of Music of the University
of Cincinnati. Jon
has participated in the Aspen Music Festival for five summers. He has studied
and performed with many of the most admired and respected bassoonists in the country,
including members of the Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony,
Cincinnati Symphony, and the San Franciso Symphony. In
his spare time Jon is an avid wood carver and enthusiastic traveler, and he "enjoys
