Millsaps is a privately supported national liberal arts college founded by members of the Methodist Church in 1890. Consistently ranked as one of the best values in higher education, Millsaps has been praised by Colleges That Change Lives, The Princeton Review, Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine, the John Templeton Foundation, The Fiske Guide to Colleges, and Insight Magazine.

Setting

Millsaps is a selective undergraduate institution located on 100 beautiful acres in the heart of Jackson, the capital of Mississippi - a progressive southern metropolitan city of nearly half a million population. The city of Jackson is served by an international airport with six passenger airlines and Interstate highways 55 and 20.

Faculty Credentials

Millsaps employs 97 full-time faculty members. Of those, 94 percent of Millsaps tenure-track faculty hold a Ph.D. or the final degree in their field. The faculty/student ratio at Millsaps is 1:9, and the average class size is 14.

Intercollegiate Athletics

Member of NCAA Division III, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Millsaps Majors compete in 18 intercollegiate sports: baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, lacrosse, and track and field for men; and basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, lacrosse, volleyball, and track and field for women.

Else School of Management

Millsaps offers the Master of Business Administration and Master of Accountancy through the Else School of Management. The management school is accredited by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).

Adult Programs

Millsaps College began its continuing education program in 1972 with the Community Enrichment Series, a noncredit program offering more than 60 courses for adults three times a year.  The office also directs the semester-long Great Topics Seminars in the Humanities and Sciences and organizes a College-Board endorsed Summer Institute for high school teachers of Advanced Placement courses. In 2009 the office took over the Millsaps Arts and Lecture Series, which is now in its 45th year of presenting lectures, political and musical programs to the greater community.  Day long continuing  education courses for teachers are offered throughout the year, and summer enrichment camps and workshops for kids take place in the summer months.

Dr. Robert Pearigen became the 11th president of Millsaps College in 2010.
