Our Review Process

(how we evaluate applications)

At Millsaps, we take a holistic approach in our application review process so we can learn all about you. We review your academic record, completed course work, academic performance, prior school background and standardized test scores.

Since most of our applicants are high achieving scholars, we also consider any submitted biographical information, extracurricular activities, personal essays and recommendations.

Admissions and scholarship notification will be mailed on a rolling basis as your application files are completed.

Transferring Credits

To understand how your classes transfer, we will prepare a transfer credit evaluation. This usually takes about two weeks to complete, and it will be emailed directly to you, along with the contact information for your transfer faculty advisor. This will help you understand your timeline at Millsaps and give you a chance to ask questions about the academic program you are interested in at Millsaps. Remember that transfer students are given priority registration.

Scholarships

At Millsaps, we value the work you have already done. That’s why we offer guaranteed admission and scholarships to qualified students who apply to Millsaps! All admitted students will be considered for merit-based scholarships.

We offer scholarships specifically for transfer students, too!

Transfer Scholarship: Transfer Scholarships are merit-based and available ranging from $18,000 to $26,000.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarships are also available for our transfer students. PTK) is the honor society at two-year colleges.

Phi Theta Kappa Members Scholarship: Members will receive an additional $5,000 scholarship, stacked on their TRANSFERmation Scholarship.

Phi Theta Kappa Officers Scholarship: Officers will receive an additional $6,000 scholarship, stacked on their TRANSFERmation Scholarship.

Phi Theta Kappa Presidents Scholarship: Presidents will receive an additional $7,000 scholarship, stacked on their TRANSFERmation Scholarship.

Verification of your role in PTK can be sent to [email protected].

More information about scholarships and need-based financial aid can be found here.

Next Steps for Admitted Transfer Students

You’ve been admitted — congratulations! Within two weeks, let us know if you plan on joining our community. We will also need your enrollment deposit to secure your spot no later than two weeks after admission notification.

Deposit

If you’ve reviewed your admission letter and your full financial aid package, and feel ready to commit to enrolling, the most important step is submitting your deposit! This will ensure we’ve secured your place in the incoming class. Simply login to your application status portal and click the payment link. Your $250 deposit will be credited to your Millsaps student account. Incoming transfer students who have submitted their deposit are given priority registration for classes as soon as registration for the next term is available.

Submit Your Housing Application!

Deposited students must submit a housing application to live in Millsaps’ on-campus residence halls. If you plan on living off campus, you will need to decline student housing.

The Decline Student Housing form can be submitted before you pay your enrollment deposit in order to see an accurate financial aid award and estimated direct cost. New students’ and transfer students’ move-in dates are found on the academic calendar.

Submit Proof of Immunizations

Review the Immunization Requirements policy for admission. You will submit a completed Health History form to Wesson Health Center. It can be emailed to [email protected]. If you have any questions, please call 601-974-1207.
