The cost of attendance (COA) is the cornerstone of establishing a student’s financial need, as it sets a limit on the total aid that a student may receive for purposes of the Campus-Based, TEACH Grant and Direct Loan programs and is one of the basic components of the Pell Grant calculation. These figures include the standards of tuition, fees, room, meals, books and supplies, transportation, federal loan fees and a small allowance for miscellaneous expenses.

This estimate is utilized in the mandated calculation to determine a student’s eligibility for Title IV Federal Financial Aid programs consisting of grants, work-study and student loans; however, students may wish to refer to these estimated expenses to assist in their budget planning process. These COAs include tuition, mandatory fees, room, board, books and supplies, transportation, miscellaneous and loan fees.

Some students’ cost of attendance will be higher, while others’ cost of attendance may be less than the estimates, depending on your personal preferences and circumstances. We use the estimates above when determining eligibility for need-based financial aid.

Please note that you may pay a different amount depending on your specific course of study, and that all costs are subject to change. In addition to the academic year Cost of Attendance, there will be an undergraduate pre-enrollment orientation fee billed in the amount of $300 for incoming freshmen students and $250 for incoming transfer students.

In your planning, you may also be interested in using Millsaps’ Net Price Calculator, designed to give you an estimate of your eligibility for financial aid, which will help you gauge your out-of-pocket expenses.

Net Price Calculator

Use our online net price calculator to help you estimate the amount of your financial aid award and the amount you may expect to pay.

This calculator asks a series of questions, which will help determine the monetary value of your financial assistance offer and scholarships. We take these numbers and subtract them from the total cost of attendance.

Please have a close estimate of your family’s income and assets in order to ensure an accurate estimate of your cost of attendance.
