Millsaps is a four-year residential liberal-arts college chartered in 1890 and located in Jackson, Mississippi. Our students hail from 21 states and territories and 14 countries on six continents. No matter where you’re from, you’ll feel right at home at Millsaps.

When to Apply
We will evaluate your application based on your academic record, completed course work, performance in course work and standardized test scores. We will also take into account your biographical information, extracurricular activities and essay, along with counselor and teacher recommendations.

How to Apply

We are excited to learn more about you! To apply to Millsaps as an international student, please submit the following:
- Complete your Millsaps College application or the Common App.
- Completed the International Qualifications Self-Report form, including:
- Copy of secondary/high school transcript in the original language with an English certified translation (if applicable)
- Official transcripts from any post-secondary school attended
- National examination test results (optional — see Test Scores)
- Evidence of English language proficiency
- Complete your I-20 financial support form
- Submit recommendations
Our Review Process
(how we evaluate applications)
At Millsaps, we take a holistic approach in our application review process so we can learn all about you. We review your academic record, completed course work, academic performance, prior school background and standardized test scores.
Since most of our applicants are high achieving scholars, we also consider any submitted biographical information, extracurricular activities, personal essays and recommendations.
Transferring Credits
If you are an international student planning to transfer to Millsaps, you will need to submit a credential evaluation. We require the credential evaluation to review completed coursework and will work with you to determine your remaining course plan. Review the Office of Records policy on international transcripts and submit your official credential evaluation here.
Cost & Scholarships
At Millsaps, we recognize the importance of selecting a college that is a good financial fit for you and your family. Once you receive an offer of admission, you will be asked to complete and submit our I-20 support form, along with documents showing that you have sufficient finances available to cover the cost of study (after deducting scholarships).

* Books are included in the total cost of tuition through the Saps Supplies program.
** Standard freshman housing for fall and spring semesters, not inclusive of intersession breaks.
*** ISP health insurance premium varies based on age of student; additional costs will be applied for athletes (estimated $1,646). F1 students are auto enrolled into the ISP plan. U.S. citizens and Permanent Residents do not qualify for the ISP plan. All Millsaps students must carry health insurance.
Financial Aid & Scholarships
As an international student, you will be automatically considered for merit-based scholarships — no separate application required!
Top applicants are eligible for scholarships between $18,000 – $34,000. We determine your scholarship award through a holistic review of criteria including: your GPA (converted by Millsaps to a U.S. GPA on a 4.0 scale), rigor of the academic program and high school and/or college curriculum, leadership, extracurricular involvement, letters of recommendation, alumni/legacy relationships, institutional fit and demonstrated interest. You may also be eligible for artistic, musical or theatre talent scholarships.
Millsaps is unable to provide full scholarships or need-based aid to international students.
Note: All renewable scholarships are contingent on meeting specific eligibility criteria provided with the award. Merit scholarships do not increase annually. The average increase in cost of attendance is estimated between 2% and 5% annually.
Test Scores
Millsaps is test flexible. You may submit your national examination results or IB, SAT, ACT, AP, iGCSE/GCSE/GCE scores.
Official scores can be sent using our test codes:
- ACT 2212
- SAT 1471
English Language Proficiency
Students whose primary language is not English must submit one of the following:
- TOEFL iBT (internet-based): 80
- TOEFL pBT (paper-based): 60
- IELTS: 6.5
- GTEC: 1204
- Secondary education in an English instructed curriculum (minimum of 2 years).
Millsaps accepts self-reported information (information sent by the student) for admission purposes. Official TOEFL scores can be sent using our test code:
- TOEFL 1471
Recommendations
Have your counselor, school official and/or teacher send recommendations to [email protected] if you have not already submitted them with your application materials.
Student Visa Process
If you are a non-U.S. citizen and admitted to Millsaps, you will need to apply for an F-1 student visa to study in the United States. You will be issued a form I-20, which will allow you to apply for your student visa. More information will be provided about the visa application process after you are admitted.
Please note: official transcripts and test scores will be required before y
ou can receive an I-20 for the F1 U.S. visa and must be received prior to enrollment.
International Exchange Students
To study abroad at Millsaps, we will need the following:
- Completed Millsaps International Exchange Application
- Nomination from your home university or institution
- Translated academic transcripts from your home university or institution
- Proof of English proficiency — English language tests, official IELTS or TOEFL scores (if English is the native language the IELTS/TOEFL requirement may be waived). For students whose first language is not English, Millsaps requires IELTS scores of band 6.5 or higher, or a minimum score of 80 on the iBT TOEFL. Millsaps’ TOEFL code is 1471.
- Photocopy of your passport — This must be a clear copy of your passport identification pages, including United States visas or entry stamps.
- Course selection — Review the course list on Major Portal and complete the International Exchange Student Course Selection Form (PDF) indicating the Millsaps courses you wish to take. List your preferred courses in order of priority and indicate if a course is mandatory. We will connect you with a Millsaps academic advisor to confirm your courses after you are admitted. We cannot guarantee course availability.
