The Millsaps College Department of Education has earned national accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
Millsaps College is currently one of the two institutions in Mississippi that has earned CAEP national accreditation.
“Accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation is a seal of approval for our program,” said Dr. Debra B. Burson, chair of the Millsaps Department of Education. “Accreditation validates that our programs prepare new teachers with the skills and knowledge necessary to enter the classroom ready to teach effectively and impact K–12 student learning on day one.”
Millsaps College offers an elementary education major with K–6 licensure, an education minor with or without teacher licensure for grades 7–12, and a ninth and tenth semester post-baccalaureate non-degree program for Millsaps graduates seeking teacher licensure. Also housed within the Department of Education is the Principals’ and Teachers’ Institute, which provides personal and professional growth opportunities for principals, assistant principals, and teachers in public, private, and parochial schools.
