A local expert on clean energy will speak at the Else School of Management's Fall Forum 2010, scheduled Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 8:30 a.m. in the Leggett Special Events Center on the Millsaps College campus. See a campus map.
Stephen D. Johnston, CEO of SmartSynch, Inc., a smart grid technology company headquartered in Jackson, will discuss the topic "Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Mississippi: The SmartSynch Story."
SmartSynch works with more than 120 utility clients in North America. The company was recently named one of the Top 10 firms to watch globally in the smart grid industry for 2010 in the Clean Tech Revolution and Johnston was named one of the most influential executives in the smart grid space. Johnston is a frequent commentator on clean energy and has appeared on Fox Business News and ABC news, as well as in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes and dozens of energy publications.
Johnston holds degrees in banking and finance and managerial finance from the University of Mississippi. He serves on the boards of Momentum Mississippi and the University of Mississippi Research Foundation. Before joining SmartSynch, he was an investment banker with Wachovia Securities in Charlotte, N.C. and Atlanta.
