I am the chair of the Government and Politics Department and am an assistant professor, specializing in comparative politics and international relations. I teach a number of introductory classes, as well as more advanced electives in topics like African politics, authoritarianism, the political economy of development, and American foreign policy. My research focuses on the politics of nation-building in Tanzania and Kenya, as well as the role of public education in citizenship norms and practices.
