We’re excited to spotlight Madelyn Palomeque, a distinguished alumna of Millsaps College, who graduated in 2014 with a double major in business administration and economics. Madelyn’s college experience was transformative; she fondly reflects on her time at Millsaps with gratitude for the education and opportunities that shaped her career.
During her time at Millsaps, Madelyn was not only a dedicated student but an active member of campus life. As a member of the women’s lacrosse team, she discovered a passion for teamwork and discipline, skills she carries into her professional life.
Additionally, her involvement in Phi Mu Fraternity and the Purple and White newspaper enriched her college experience, allowing her to engage with diverse perspectives and cultivate valuable relationships.
After graduation, Madelyn began her career at the Mississippi Children’s Museum before landing a pivotal role as a digital financial relationship advisor at a major bank in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her determination and networking skills helped her secure this position, where she showcased her writing portfolio—a vital tool from her Millsaps education that set her apart in a competitive field.
Madelyn currently serves as a Vice President – Alternative Investments Sales Specialist, where she utilizes her expertise to drive growth in this dynamic sector. Her career has been dynamic and rewarding, characterized by significant growth under the mentorship of exceptional leaders.
She emphasizes the importance of having supportive bosses early in your career, as they can profoundly influence professional development. Her time at Millsaps taught her critical thinking, resourcefulness and the ability to ask the right questions—skills that have proven invaluable in her career.
A passionate advocate for networking, Madelyn encourages current students to embrace every opportunity to connect with others, emphasizing that building relationships is key to success in any field.
Her advice to those entering the alternative investments sector is clear: focus on learning and understanding your resources rather than trying to “fake it until you make it.”
Madelyn remains connected to her Millsaps roots, valuing the friendships and experiences she gained during her time here. While she acknowledges a need to engage more with the alumni network, she cherishes the lifelong bonds formed with fellow graduates.
Among her many accomplishments, Madelyn is proud of her reputation as a problem-solver and her ability to balance her career with her most cherished role as a family member.
Her internship at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian stands out as a defining moment in her journey, reinforcing her passion for meaningful work and service.
Madelyn gives back to Millsaps because she believes in the transformative power of a liberal arts education. As a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship, she is committed to supporting future generations of students, ensuring they have the same enriching experience that shaped her life.
We are proud to celebrate Madelyn Palomeque as an inspiring Millsaps alumna making a difference in her field and community!
