I joined Millsaps in the fall of 2023. I teach courses in cognitive psychology and neuroscience, examining the behavioral, mental, and neurological processes that underlie how people think. Human cognition includes a broad range of mental processes, ranging from low-level perception to higher-order judgment and reasoning. My courses explore human cognition from multiple perspectives, examining relevant theories, research methods, and empirical evidence. As an instructor, I place a strong emphasis on critical thinking, and help students explore the real-world implications of psychology research. In addition to my teaching, I conduct research on visual cognition, examining how people think about the visual world. I am passionate about mentoring student research, and actively involve students at each stage of the research process, from identifying research questions to analyzing data and drawing conclusions.
