Daniel Jasper

Dr. Jasper received his undergraduate degree from Macalester College and his MA and PhD from the New School of Social Research. His scholarship is focused upon the Marathi speaking region of western India, where he has conducted archival and ethnographic research. In his work, he has investigated the ways in which regional and religious identity has been shaped and articulated through commemoration of the seventeenth century king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Prior to coming to Millsaps in 2025, he served as the Vice President of Academic Affairs at William Jewell College.
