Assistant Professor of Studio Art

I am an American artist originally from the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Western Pennsylvania. My work explores the desire for meaning and the lack of human understanding, both on a cosmic scale and in the minutiae of the everyday. I embrace an open studio practice that revolves around a broad definition of objecthood and the often absurd attempts of humans to make sense of the world. I earned my M.F.A. from Syracuse University. I have been privileged to participate in residencies, including the Turner Residency in Los Angeles, California, and the Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts in Farmington, Maine. My work has been exhibited internationally, including at the CICA Museum in Gimpo, South Korea; the 2019 Miami University Young Sculptors Competition at Hiestand Galleries in Miami University, Oxford, Ohio; and Das Giftraum in Berlin, Germany.
