Janice B. Trimble Endowed Chair in English
Professor of English

I was born and raised in California’s heartland, the San Joaquin Valley, and spent 15 years in Los Angeles playing music for a living before entering graduate school. Along the way I became enamored with Shakespeare and Cervantes, whose writing careers overlapped, also coinciding with ongoing European colonial activities in the Americas. This Old World connection often informs my teaching and research and led quite naturally to my 20-year involvement in the Millsaps Yucatan Program.
