Assistant Professor of Biology

Born and raised in a quaint Indian village, nestled amidst lush fields and teeming with domestic life, I cultivated a deep-rooted appreciation for the natural world. The scarcity of transportation during my childhood fortified my connection to the local environment, igniting a lifelong fascination with nature’s intricate tapestry.

My interest in fisheries stems from their potential as a sustainable and innovative alternative to traditional agriculture, as well as its promising applications in aquaculture research. During my PhD in drug discovery research, I delved into utilizing zebrafish model organism to explore anti-thrombotic properties of natural products. This experience fueled my passion for uncovering solutions to pressing human health challenges through the lens of fisheries research.

With nearly a decade of experience in biology instruction, I have honed a dynamic and engaging teaching style. My experience in both community college and university settings has equipped me with the skills to craft innovative lesson plans, design flexible assessments, and provide personalized support to students. I teach General Biology, Human Biology, Aquatic Biology and Fisheries.

Beyond academic pursuits, I firmly believe in the transformative power of linguistic diversity and cultural exchange. By encouraging students to share their unique experiences, we can foster empathy, understanding, and a profound appreciation for the rich tapestry of cultures and languages. Through my dedication to teaching, research, and cultural representation, I aspire to educate, inspire, and shape young minds at Millsaps.
