Interim President
Professor of Chemistry

I currently serve as Millsaps College’s interim president. Prior to assuming this role, I served 12 years as the provost and dean of the College.

Before joining Millsaps College, I spent nearly 20 years at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, serving as a professor of chemistry and in such administrative roles as associate dean of the college, chair of the Division of Science and Mathematics, chair of the chemistry program, project shepherd for the design and construction of a new science facility, resident director of the Centre-in-London study abroad program, and faculty athletic representative for the NCAA.

I am a 1987 graduate of Erskine College with a major in chemistry and minors in music and mathematics. At Erskine, I was inducted into Who’s Who Among American College and University Students and Omicron Delta Kappa, and I earned NAIA Academic All-American honors in tennis. I earned my Ph.D. in chemical physics from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1993. I completed the 2016-17 Executive Leadership Academy, cosponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, and the American Academic Leadership Institute.
