After earning my B.A. in chemistry from the University of Wyoming, I was employed by Church & Dwight Inc. outside Green River, Wyoming, as a quality control analyst. We made products like baking soda and laundry detergent. I then decided to return to graduate school and earned a Ph.D. in chemistry four years later. My husband and I moved to Mississippi in 1997, where I joined the faculty at Millsaps College. We have raised our two children here.
