Lydia Lee Maggio

As pre-health director, I advise our pre-health students (pre-med, pre-dental, pre-pharmacy, pre-nursing, pre-therapy [PT, OT, respiratory], etc.) about classes, professional school and preparation for professional school. I enhance preparation of students interested in health-related careers, evaluate the opportunities afforded to our students in an effort to make Millsaps the premier institution in the state for pre-health-related training, oversee and establish internship opportunities for our students in various health-related areas, remain well informed on changes in any health-related field to better advise students and faculty on requirements and job availability, institute innovative programs to help disseminate information about and provide training for health-related areas, and provide information to the Millsaps community on important issues in this area and be the contact for all questions. I enjoy meeting with current and prospective students to talk about pre-health careers. Please feel free to contact me with questions. I also teach our pre-health physics courses/labs and greatly enjoy the interactions with students. In addition, we have pre-health and pre-engineering community outreach programs where we practice interview skills and host hands-on workshops.
