Ryan Upshaw

As assistant dean for student life, I lead extracurricular student engagement efforts. I work closely with fraternity and sorority life, student organizations and programming, student conduct, and diversity education and programming. I also serve as an advisor to the Student Body Association, National Panhellenic Council, Pan-African Student Alliance, Omicron Delta Kappa and Order of Omega. I am active with the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, Southern Association of College Student Affairs, Association of Fraternity Advisors and Association of Student Conduct Administrators. In the community, I serve on the boards of the Mississippi Food Network, Big House Books and Capital City Pride. I am a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Prior to Millsaps, I held student affairs and diversity education roles at the University of Mississippi and Jackson Preparatory School. At the University of Mississippi, I received the Thomas Frist Student Service Award, the Lift Every Voice Award, the NPHC Chapter Advisor of the Year Award and the Black Student Union Outstanding Faculty/Staff Award.
