Hello! I am proud to have been teaching at Millsaps since 2008. Before making Millsaps my home, I had several different careers. After college, I worked professionally in theatre as an actor, director, and producer. I began teaching acting classes on the side, only to realize that I loved teaching more than performing. I became a school teacher for grades pre-k through 8, teaching theater, music and art. This led me to advanced study in education, where I became fascinated with the ways human learning and development are shaped by our participation in the social world. I also drew on my experiences as a theatre artist to study creativity and improvisation in groups. In my current research, I continue to focus on these topics, but now with a special interest in how our learning experiences shape us as participants in democratic society. Because my interests and experience span many disciplines, I am able to teach a wide range of courses at Millsaps, including courses in psychology, education and theater.
