I came to Millsaps following eight years in petroleum exploration with Unocal. My research interests include wetland biogeochemistry and paleoenvironmental interpretation. I regularly teach courses on natural disasters, environmental science, hydrology, mineralogy and petrology, sedimentary geology, geographical information systems and ecological design. I am the director of the Millsaps College Sorbent and Environmental Laboratory, which conducts product testing and development of oil spill sorbent materials and stormwater remediation filters. I routinely incorporate sustainable design into my personal projects and also designed and managed the construction of wastewater treatment wetlands for the Kaxil Kiuic Center for Living and Research in Yucatán, Mexico.
