I am a native Mississippian and an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. My local church ministry spanned 21 years, and I served in ministries beyond the local church for 11 years. My specific areas of ministry are ministry to families and children, pastoral ministry, physical fitness, and hospital chaplaincy. Currently, I serve as the director of the Christian Parenting and Caregiving Initiative at The Center for Ministry located at Millsaps College. I am the mother of two adult children, Seth (Sidney) Blackwell of Hernando, Mississippi; and Blythe Blackwell of Gainesville, Florida. I am also the grandmother of Elliott Blackwell of Hernando, Mississippi.
