Actuarial science, a field within insurance and finance, evaluates financial risks through mathematical and statistical methods. It employs probability and statistics to define, analyze and address the financial consequences of uncertain future events. Traditional actuarial science focuses on analyzing mortality, creating life tables and applying compound interest.

FINC 3000 — Principals of Corporate Finance
Examine corporate finance concepts including capital investment, capital structure, working capital management and financing the firm. Also introduced are bond and stock valuation and the role of global financial markets.
MATH 4510 — Mathematical Statistics
Topics include sample spaces, discrete and continuous probability distributions, independence; conditional probability, properties of distributions of discrete and random variables, moment-generating functions and sampling distribution.
