Our distinctive strengths

At Millsaps, we take data science a step further. We go beyond typical computer-focused classes. By combining computer science, mathematics, economics and business administration, our data science graduates are ready to bring a broader skillset to help business and industry find the data-driven insights they need.
  • Learn how to represent the world with virtual data objects through a process of datafication.
  • Extract insights and facilitate new discoveries about the world by studying these data objects.
  • Create artificially intelligent systems that align harmoniously with human intelligence to perform tasks.

Gain hands-on experience

Data science majors will have several hands-on opportunities including a capstone project, internships, honors projects, portfolio development and more. Students will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience that gives them the ability to move theories into action.

Pathways

Our curriculum emphasizes problem solving and critical thinking skills essential to any career (and therefore any Pathway), as well as scientific writing and experimentation skills that may be especially critical to students interested in any of our six Pathways tracks.

Study Abroad

Summer- and winter-term field courses are offered on a regular basis. Check out opportunities that will broaden your learning experience at Millsaps.
