Master of Accountancy (M.Acc.)

Dominate the CPA exam.

The Millsaps Master of Accountancy (M.Acc.) and Master of Accountancy with Analytics (M.Acc.A.) programs are designed to help you prepare for and pass the CPA exam. Small, in-person classes allow faculty to develop individual study plans to help you learn the content and principles of the exam. Our goal is for you to pass all four sections before you graduate — setting you up for success and allowing you to focus on your career.

ACCT 642 Advanced Taxation
A study of the taxation of corporations, partnerships, estates and trusts. The class addresses formation, distribution, combination and liquidation issues.
ACCT 675 Accounting Theory
This is an in-depth study of financial accounting theory reporting topics. It is designed to familiarize students with important issues facing the accounting profession, to examine in depth various solutions and to strengthen student understanding of today’s critical issues in accounting theory.

Master of Accountancy, M.Acc.
Designed for students who intend to pursue professional careers in public accounting, business, and the government/nonprofit sector. The M.Acc. fulfills the educational requirements to sit for the CPA examination in the state of Mississippi and many of the states that have adopted the AICPA’s 150-credit-hour requirement.
Master of Accountancy with Analytics, M.Acc.A.
The Master of Accountancy with Analytics (MAccA) program caters to aspiring accounting professionals, providing them with specialized skills to thrive in the digital era. With a focus on advanced accounting principles alongside a deep dive into analytics, data management, and emerging technologies, this program positions graduates at the forefront of modern accounting practice.

Our distinctive strengths

The most significant highlight of the program is that nearly 100% of our graduates have a full time position at or within six months of graduation. Another highlight is our CPA review program where students study for at take the CPA exam while in the MAcc program.

Gain hands-on experience

Our liberal arts core curriculum provides a well-rounded education beyond what most other accounting programs offer. Millsaps offers a well-developed study abroad program that focuses on business in Europe and Mexico. Our emphasis on internships through the dedicated career center is unique to our liberal arts college. There are numerous opportunities for real-world experience thanks to internships.
Our VITA program allows accounting students to prepare tax returns for low-income people who do not have ready access to tax help.
Students get class credit while performing a paid internship with an accounting firm, state audit agency or corporate entity.
Every year the accounting students take a trip to Washington, D.C. to visit different government agencies and other quasi-government agencies that have a role in shaping accounting, auditing and tax laws. Entities include the GAO, the PCAOB and the AICPA.
Students assist with Else Works.
Internship opportunities at HORNE, Harper Rains Knight, and Haddox Reid Eubanks Betts in general accounting, tax, or auditing.
Stay in the Sip Accountancy Fellowship through the Office of MS State Auditor.

Study Abroad

All Millsaps students can take advantage of our study-abroad classes. The Else School of Management has two long-established international study programs: the European Business Program and Casa Millsaps, located in Merida, Mexico. Check out all the opportunities.
