The Millsaps College Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program offers rigorous graduate-level education that deepens accounting knowledge and professional judgment through applied coursework. Students build advanced expertise relevant to public accounting, corporate, audit, and advisory roles, while also completing coursework that aligns with CPA licensure requirements. For those seeking additional quantitative breadth, the Master of Accountancy with Analytics (MAccA) is a STEM designated program and integrates accounting study with data analytics and quantitative methods. Both programs are designed for focused, in-person study and emphasize practical skills valued in today’s accounting profession.

ACCT 642 Advanced Taxation
A study of the taxation of corporations, partnerships, estates and trusts. The class addresses formation, distribution, combination and liquidation issues.
ACCT 675 Accounting Theory
This is an in-depth study of financial accounting theory reporting topics. It is designed to familiarize students with important issues facing the accounting profession, to examine in depth various solutions and to strengthen student understanding of today’s critical issues in accounting theory.

Master of Accountancy, M.Acc.
Designed for students who intend to pursue professional careers in public accounting, business, and the government/nonprofit sector. The M.Acc. fulfills the educational requirements to sit for the CPA examination in the state of Mississippi and many of the states that have adopted the AICPA’s 150-credit-hour requirement.
Master of Accountancy with Analytics, M.Acc.A.
The Master of Accountancy with Analytics (MAccA) program caters to aspiring accounting professionals, providing them with specialized skills to thrive in the digital era. With a focus on advanced accounting principles alongside a deep dive into analytics, data management, and emerging technologies, this program positions graduates at the forefront of modern accounting practice.

Gain hands-on experience

The Master of Accountancy programs at Millsaps go beyond the classroom to connect students with the profession and build competitive career experience. Annual Washington, D.C. Professional Immersion - Each year, accounting students travel to Washington, D.C. for a professional networking trip focused on accounting regulation and oversight. Visits include the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), the Government Accountability Office (GAO), and other key organizations, giving students direct insight into the institutions and people shaping accounting practice. Internship for Credit - Accounting students may gain relevant work experience while earning their degrees. Recent internship opportunities include placements at HORNE (now part of BDO), Harper Rains Knight, and Haddox Reid Eubanks Betts, with experience in general accounting, taxation, and auditing. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) - Accounting students gain hands-on experience through participation in the VITA program, where they prepare income tax returns for individuals and families in the community. Students apply tax law and accounting principles in real client settings, build confidence in tax preparation, and develop professional responsibility while providing a valuable service to our community.
