Cord Campbell, Monty Hamilton, David Loper and The Rev. Cary Stockett are the newest members of the Millsaps College Board of Trustees. They completed their orientation and were formally welcomed during the Board’s virtual meeting in October 2020.
“We are honored to have these individuals serving as trustees to Millsaps College, and excited about the skills and insights they’ll bring to our work,” said Dr. Robert W. Pearigen, president of Millsaps. “Each of them comes with a different background that will offer experiences, perspectives and connections that will greatly benefit the college now and in the years to come.”
Campbell is vice president of finance and operations at Arduro Sustainable Rubber, a clean technology company headquartered in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. A native of Jackson, he graduated from Murrah High School before enrolling at Millsaps, where he majored in business administration and philosophy, and played varsity football. Graduating cum laude from Millsaps in 2000, Cord worked as a manager in finance and operations for Parkway Properties in Jackson. In 2003, he entered the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame, where he received an M.B.A. with concentrations in corporate finance and accounting.
Hamilton is CEO of Rural Sourcing, Inc. (RSI), a leading domestic IT outsourcing provider headquartered in Atlanta. A native of Blue Mountain, Mississippi, Monty graduated from Ripley High School, and later completed an associate’s degree at Northeast Mississippi Junior College. Transferring to Millsaps, he majored in business administration and played varsity football. Graduating magna cum laude in 1984, he went on to earn an M.B.A. at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business. Active in community and civic circles, Monty is currently involved with the Special Olympics and is a former board chair for the Adaptive Learning Center in Atlanta.
Loper is senior vice president and senior associate counsel at Protective Life Corporation, a financial services holding company headquartered in Birmingham. Reared in Jackson, he attended St. Joseph High School before enrolling at Millsaps where he majored in history and was active in student government, the Millsaps Singers, and various service organizations. Loper is active in the civic life of Birmingham, and currently serves on the board of REV Birmingham, a revitalization and economic development nonprofit. He previously served on the boards of the Birmingham Ballet, the Birmingham Zoo, and Birmingham AIDS Outreach. He has also remained active with his alma mater as a class agent and past president of the Millsaps College National Alumni Association. He was awarded the College’s Livesay Service Award in 2011.
The Reverend Cary Stockett is senior pastor at Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church in Jackson. Reared in Jackson and Crystal Springs, he graduated from Copiah Academy in 1980, attended Hinds Junior College, and in 1984 completed a bachelor’s degree in religion at Mississippi College. He received his M.Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky in 1987. He has been Senior Pastor at Galloway Memorial since 2017. Stockett previously served on the Board of Advisors at the Center for Ministry at Millsaps College.
