Millsaps College Associate Professor of Art, Sue Carrie Drummond, has been selected to participate in the inaugural Faculty Leadership Academy sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges, a national organization representing independent colleges and universities.
Drummond is among a small group from across the country chosen for the first academy, which is designed to strengthen leadership skills among faculty at independent colleges and universities.
Her selection reflects the depth of talent and leadership within the Millsaps faculty.
“Millsaps faculty are not only outstanding teachers and scholars, but leaders who shape the future of higher education,” said Daniel Jasper, provost of Millsaps College. “Sue Carrie’s selection for this national program speaks to the quality of our faculty and the learning environment they create for our students every day.”
The CIC Faculty Leadership Academy supports faculty members who play key roles on their campuses by helping them develop skills related to collaboration, communication and institutional leadership. Participants engage with peers from across the country while exploring the unique mission-driven work of independent colleges.
Drummond, who teaches in the Millsaps art department, is known for her commitment to students and to the broader academic community. Her participation in the academy underscores Millsaps’ ongoing investment in faculty development and academic excellence.
For students and families, the recognition highlights the value of learning from faculty who are engaged not only in the classroom but also in national conversations about leadership and higher education. For alumni and donors, it reflects how support for Millsaps continues to strengthen the college’s academic reputation and impact.
