On February 14, 2023, a wave of support rolled across the Millsaps College community as alumni, friends, trustees, faculty, staff and students came together to support the college through its annual Show Your Love campaign, a 24-hour day of giving. Student Philanthropy Week was held in conjunction with Show Your Love to educate the campus about charitable giving, stewardship and how the college utilizes the generous gifts it receives.

The goal for this year’s campaign was $130,000. Through the work of the college’s supporters, generous match donors, social media ambassadors, and all who donated and helped spread the word, a total of $181,569 was raised for the college.

The campaign included challenges to introduce an element of friendly competition; alumni from each decade competed to see which decade could raise the most funds and which decade could have the highest participation. At the end of the campaign, the classes of the 1960s came through with the highest total of giving, and the classes of the 1990s had the highest participation.

The day also featured a Greek challenge for the fraternity or sorority who raised the most funds. The competition was close until the evening hours, when a generous donor helped Chi Omega take the lead. They are the winner of the 2023 Greek Challenge, and the current chapter received a $1,000 prize.

Liza Webb Booth ’94, director of annual giving at Millsaps, was thrilled with the efforts of all who participated in the Show Your Love campaign.

“Thanks to the donors, volunteers, students, faculty and staff who have come together to help make Millsaps great,” she said. “We’re so appreciative of everyone who joined in to help make this day a success.”
